Drew O’Brien remains actively involved alongside his father, raising grass-fed feeder cattle on a small ranch near Custer, South Dakota—an experience that shaped his strong work ethic and deep appreciation for land, agriculture, and community. Through his wife’s family, who farm and ranch near Irene, he stays closely connected to production agriculture and rural South Dakota values.
Drew met his wife at South Dakota State University and later earned his MBA from Dakota State University. During his 15-year career with Lloyd Companies, he focused on helping communities grow with purpose—bringing together land, capital, housing, and local leadership to support long-term economic vitality. He is driven by projects that strengthen rural economies, create opportunities, and help communities grow without losing their identity.
Deeply engaged in community and conservation, Drew serves as Vice President of the Lincoln County Pheasants Forever Chapter and is a past member of the Sioux Metro Growth Alliance Advisory Board. He and his wife are raising four children and enjoy spending time outdoors and with extended family. Whether working with community leaders or walking ground with producers, Drew brings a practical, forward-looking approach to agriculture-driven economic development in South Dakota.
